Traditional knowledge of ethnomedicinal plants

The research site, Girnar Mountain is located in the Junagadh, Gujarat,India. During the field studies  prominent  morphological features of plants were  recorded. The procedure of interview, discussion, meeting and dialogue was organized between people. Last step was to contact knowledgeable informants forest officers in the tribal area or medicine man, they were taken to the field, information was noted on plant species and data was collected about the local names of plants, medicinal value, utility by tribal people and also culture of the folk.The present work makes an attempt to  provide comprehensive document related to the medicinal plants, their habitats, regional distribution, and conservation issues, ethnobotanical practices, commerce and trade etc. in Gujarat. An attempt has also been madeto formulate recommendations for future conservation and promotion of medicinal plants. The work also includes an empirical analysis regarding the threat perceptions and conservation concern related to the medicinal flora of Gujarat.
